The SSM Soccer Signature Program put on quite the show on Winter Family Weekend with two big wins from the Boys and Girls U19 teams. Family weekend lasted from February 6-8 with action packed games throughout the weekend.
The Boys U19 boasted a 2-0 win over Viterbo University. Viterbo is a D3 college soccer team from La Crosse, Wisconsin. The match was a well fought battle from both sides, and SSM was very pleased to take the win. Keagan Cook ’27 spoke on the message after the game was over. He stated,” We were very pleased with our effort and overall good teamplay.”
It is also a unique experience to play a college as a high schooler, something that is a testament to the program. Cook said,”Being the younger team, it felt great to win and it’s not an experience everyone gets to have.”
The Girls U19 also was busy over the weekend, posting a 2-0 record and a commanding 4-0 win over Mankato that Sunday. They played a complete game, holding possession very well and keeping up the pressure. Megan Moody ’27 had quite the game posting two goals. One was from a great pass by Amelia-Mai Curthoys ’28 and the other was from way downtown. Moody stated,”My favorite goal had to have been the second one.” The other two goals came from Maria Aubanell Lago ’28 and Imogene Joesph ’26.
This game was a great one for all the families in town. Moody shared, ”There’s always stuff to improve on but happy we played well in front of families.”
SSM soccer is now heading on Spring break along with everyone else before gearing up for the final stretch of the season.
