Get ready for a fun and entertaining experience as SSM presents The Addams Family musical, running May 1-3. It is directed by faculty member Miriam Coyle. The school edition musical is based on characters created by Charles Addams, the musical brings a fun family to life in a high-energy production. Featuring dark humor, catchy tunes, and unforgettable characters, this performance is sure to be a memorable one.
The musical centers around Wednesday Addams, played by Emmalin Simons ‘28, as she falls in love with Lucas Beineke played by Ian Schleif ‘28. He is a “normal” young man from a “normal” family. When Wednesday invites Lucas and his parents to dinner with her odd family, secrets are revealed, relationships are tested, and the meaning of family is explored.
Cast member Lucas Xiang ‘25, who portrays Gomez Addams explained that the production is very rewarding, especially because it is his last show at SSM before he graduates. He describes the musical in three words, “majestic, loving, and weird”.
“I think it has been interesting seeing the different ways people have interpreted their characters,” said Simons ‘28, “It’s been amazing – I’ve made so many new connections with people.”
The musical will be performed in Newhall Auditorium with shows on May 1-2 at 7 p.m. and May 3 at 2 p.m. Tickets are free for all members of the SSM community or are ten dollars and available for purchase at the door. For reservations, email [email protected].
